Our Story
Our story begins in 1982 in a joinery workshop on Orchard Street, in Ilkeston. This is where founders Maureen and Graham Connett built their first piece of bespoke furniture as Orchard Kitchens. Their skill and commitment to quality provided the foundations for what was to become a thriving family-run business. Their son Paul and daughters Julie and Stephanie have since taken over the running of the company.
In 1986, we moved to our current premises on Lower Granby Street. The additional space allowed us to expand and improve our workshop. It also gave us the opportunity to open a stunning showroom, which now showcases 14 beautiful displays. Here you’ll find a range of modern and traditional designs to explore, including our impressive new OrchardLine true handleless kitchen.
Maintaining the trust of the local community and continuing to uphold the highest standards means a lot to our family team. Though we’ve come a long way since those early days, we continue to provide exceptional service. Crafting Our Own Bespoke Kitchens
We make all our kitchens to order at our on-site workshop. This gives us complete control over the quality of our products. Over the years, we’ve invested in state-of-the-art technology, including a CNC machine and edge banding machine. Our combined use of cutting-edge machinery, traditional craftsmanship and carefully selected materials ensures we always achieve unrivalled precision.
Producing our own kitchens has the added benefit of promoting unlimited design freedom. Whether you require a bespoke solution to a tricky architectural feature or a custom design to express your creativity, if you can imagine it, we can build it. And since we’re not waiting on a long chain of suppliers, we are able to offer a pretty quick turnaround.

Orchard Kitchens are members of the Kitchen Bathroom Bedroom Specialists Association (KBSA). The organisation promotes professionalism and excellence in the design, supply and installation of fitted kitchens and bedrooms. To maintain our membership, we must follow a strict code of conduct. This should give you further assurance of our commitment to quality.
We have also elected to be part of the KBSA’s Consumer Protection Scheme. Our Consumer Care Plus insurance offers financial peace of mind.
